for eight years,
and he ran Bob’s When speaking about his training practices, John believes in treating each horse as an individual. “You have to train them separately,” John explains. “I go over every horse under my care, and I train them based on their potential. I give each horse personal attention.” When asked about medications and the track vet, John said that he learned from Baffert that you use medications as a last resort. In fact, if they can’t get the job done under their own power, then they’re probably not going to get the job done at all. “I’m very ‘old school’ in my practices,” John elaborated, “and I prefer treating minor issues with ice, hot water, salts, and topical solutions.
