Good News!

Mojo Racing Partners is pleased to announce that we have a new addition to the Mojo Stable!

Hip #3950 - a lovely Bay Filly by Chapel Royal out of Pleasing Prospect (by Mr. Prospector).

She's very correct in her confirmation (top-to-bottom - front-to-back); has a nice shoulder; a smart head; and a confident disposition.  She was born on May 3, 2006.  Our Trainer is pleased with our Filly's balanced look, and on an intersting note (while looking through her pedigree), John mentioned that when he was w/ Bob Baffert, they trained one of her grandam's stakes winners - Favorite Funtime.

Our new Filly's sire, Chapel Royal, is a multiple graded stakes winner who now stands at Ashford Stud (so we're adding to the Coolmore collection).  And her dam, Pleasing Prospect, was a Runner in
England that is by the legendary stallion Mr. Prospector (an exceptional cross for Chapel Royal).  The female lines on both sides of our Filly's pedigree lead directly to one of the most influentual mares ever imported to the United States - La Troienne.  Eaton Sales consigned our Gal, and she's KTDF registered and Breeders' Cup nominated.

I feel very fortunate to have obtained this individual because the past three days have been taxing.  As Geoffrey Russell (Keeneland's director of sales ) pointed out:  "There are still a lot of people here, accounting for a good atmosphere to today's sale.  Buyers from the Caribbean, Russia, the Ukraine, and Mexico were very busy."  This, in addition to the other European shoppers (with their favorable currencey exchange rate these days) looking to buy turf horses, has made for a very challenging/competitive Sale atmosphere to find a Mojo Runner.

For now, our lass will stay a night or two at Honeysuckle Farm (the turnout farm), and then she'll ship to Diamond D Ranch.  Of course, once she gets in, we'll give her a big
Texas welcome and let her play around in a paddock to be a horse for a month or so before we start schooling her to be a Runner.

If you're interested in owning a share of this Filly and would like to become a Mojo Partner, visit our Current Offering page.

Mojo Runner Update

Thanks to Diamond D's TLC, our Runners are in fine shape and they are scheduled to be shipped to Kentucky on Friday morning, September 14, to begin their Fall racing campaign.  They will stay with our Trainer, John Good, at HighPointe Farm and Training Center in LaGrange, Kentucky (35 minutes northeast of Louisville as the crow flies).

Sale Update

The 2007 Keeneland September Yearling Sale begins Monday, September 10, at 10:00 a.m. ET.

Keeneland has cataloged a record 5,553 yearlings—the largest ever offered.  The opening two (or “Select”) days of the sale, September 10-11, will be broadcast live on HRTV in the United States and on Racing World in the United Kingdom and Ireland.  TVG will feature coverage of the sale’s top-priced yearlings on a tape-delayed basis.

“The September Sale is the preeminent yearling market in the world,” said Geoffrey Russell, Keeneland’s director of sales. “Buyers know that consignors bring their finest quality individuals to this sale, resulting in unprecedented strength at all levels of the market.  We anticipate an even stronger international presence given the current strength of world currencies like the yen, euro and pound sterling against the U.S. dollar.  We are optimistic for a good sale.”

Keeneland will be offering a live video stream of the September Yearling Sale from September 10-25 (no sale on September 14) starting each day at 10 a.m. ET.  If you’re interested, you can watch live video of auction by clicking:
Sale Video  The first link will include video along with the catalog page of the horse in the ring.

You can be sure that we're looking forward to getting our Mojo workin' at the Keeneland Sale in the coming days!

Mojo's New Beginning

September 1, 2007

We have a lot going on, and September looks to be an exciting month for Mojo Racing Partners!

Our Runners will be shipped to Kentucky the second week in September to begin their Fall racing campaign.  While it’s a bit too early to know for sure when and where they will race, after our Trainer has had the opportunity to evaluate Woody’s and Courtney’s ability, our hope is to get at least one race at Keeneland, Churchill, and perhaps Turfway Park as well.  Essentially, we plan to work the Kentucky circuit with our Kentucky-bred Runners in the next three months.

Shortly after Woody and Courtney arrive at HighPointe, it’ll be time for the 2007 Keeneland September Yearling Sale.  Our goal is to purchase a Runner with turf pedigree, and there over 50 horses that are of particular interest that the Mojo MP will evaluate during the days he’ll be at the Sale.  A few of the sires that are on our list include:  Johar (DH Winner of the 2003 Breeders’ Cup Turf and three other graded stakes races), Perfect Soul (2003 Turf Champion), Theatrical (Champion older horse in Ireland; Champion Turf Male in the U.S.), and Woodman (recently euthanized—Champion 2YO in Ireland).  Naturally, we have a couple of “long shots” in our playbook—just like we did when we bought the Hollywood Pegasus last year.

For those who are still interested in becoming a Mojo Racing Partner, we encourage you to review our Current Offering page.  We look forward to helping you get your Mojo Workin’!
