Mojo Runners Cool Hand Butte (2YO Colt by Sky Mesa out of Sheza Nasty Lady) and Luckbyjimminy (2YO Gelding by Yesbyjimminy out of Lucky Wish) have been turned out for three months in order to recover from injuries sustained in August.

“This has been a disruptive month for two of our horses," reports Fred Taylor, Mojo's CEM.  "I'll be glad to flip the page on the calendar (to say the least)."

Cool Hand Butte was injured during his race on Friday, August 29.  At the peak of the stretch drive, another horse moved over on him, which caused the two horses to clip heals.  The incident led to Butte suffering tears in the tendons on both of his front legs.  And, earlier this month, Luckbyjimminny had knee surgery to remove a chip in his right front knee that was discovered after one of his morning works.  Both horses are expected to fully recover from their injuries and return to training at the end of the year.

"These types of fluke accidents and short-term setbacks are circumstances all horseman don't like to have happen, but we know it's part of the sport," Fred explains.  "The good news is, their injuries aren't career ending situations, and with a little time, both horses will come back strong, happy, and healthy in December."

Cool Hand Butte was nominated for the 2014 El Joven Stakes at Retama Park.  And, Luckbyjimminy looked as if he was going to be a competitive runner as well.  Mojo also has Bling It On Baby (2YO Filly by Pomeroy out of Majestic Glitter) in the barn.  She's set to make her debut in September.  And, Mojo has made plans to attend the Keeneland September Yearling Sale to buy another Mojo Runner.

"Butte was right on track to make the El Joven in October, and Lucky was making positive strides for Mojo action at Remington Park this fall too," Fred says.  "Now, we just have to be patient, give the guys time to recover, and look forward to having them return to racing next spring.  In the meantime, we're thankful to have Bling in the barn, and based on her works, we think she could provide lots of excitement to carry us through the rest of this year.  Of course, the Keeneland September Sale is just around the corner, and we'll be there to buy another runner for Mojo's 2015 racing roster."
