Sound of Fury Wins at DED!

October 20, 2016

Sound of Fury (by Broken Vow out of La Concerto) wins in his seventh start - a 6.5 furlong race at Delta Downs (DED) on Thursday, October 20!

"Well, we got the Mojo work’n again in Cajun Country,” Fred Taylor, Mojo’s CEM, happily reports.

After trying the conditions at Remington Park, Mojo decided to shift gears and relocate the stable to Delta Downs (DED) for their Thoroughbred race meet (which runs between October 19, 2016 and March 11, 2017).

“At the end of the summer, we entered a racing desert," Fred explained.  "We tried everything, but it wasn't working out.  So, last month, we decided to change venues to avoid prolonging the drought.  I think Sound of Fury’s result at DED this week validates our decision, and I’m hopeful the other Mojo Runners in our group will likewise be in a more competitive position.”

Race Recap

From the start, Sound of Fury was away cleanly and up with the pace.  Around the Clubhouse turn, Jockey Chris Rosier, allowed Sound of Fury to settle into a comfortable rhythm while the horses with early speed moved forward.  Halfway down the backstretch, the horses were spread out, Sound of Fury was in 5th, and Rosier called on Sound of Fury to get into the race.  Sound of Fury responded, he closed the gap, started picking off foes, and by the time the pair moved into the far turn, they were vying for the lead.  At the top of the stretch, Sound of Fury took the lead, and with a half furlong to go, he found another gear and pulled away to win by 3 ¼ lengths!

“It took a while to find the right spot for this horse and I'm really happy for him because he doesn’t quit,” Fred said.  “He’s a solid individual, he's a grinder, and he digs in when it counts.  He may not be the fastest horse on the planet; that said, when placed in the right conditions, this guy steps up to show he is a competitive runner that’s fun to watch.”

What’s on the Horizon?

So, what’s next for Sound of Fury and the two other horses in the Mojo Trio?  “We’re just getting started,” Fred quips.  “As they say down there—baby, let the good times roll!  This is a long race meet (spanning six months), and the other horses (Left Coast Dreams and Shez for You) in our group will also be fun to watch run around the DED bull ring in the coming weeks/months.”

So, stay tuned for upcoming racing info about Sound of Fury, as well as more exciting news on our other Mojo Runners!
