Shez for You's Game Effort at RP!
Mojo's 2YO Filly, Shez for You (by Macho Uno out of Shebelongstoyou) returned to racing after a short mid-summer rest to make her fifth start in a 5.5-furlong allowace race at Remington Park (RP) on Saturday, August 27.
“It was a big ask of her,” exclaimed Fred Taylor, Mojo’s CEM. “And, the Mojo Filly put forth a competitive effort.”
Coming out of the gate, Shez for You bumped into the #5 horse, collected herself, and was in a comfortable spot down the backstretch. Around the turn, she kept pace with the frontrunners. At the top of the stretch, when the rider called on her, she quickened her step. Down the stretch, she held her spot; but wasn't able to make up ground on the others and finished 5th.
The fractions were relatively quick (:22, :45, and :58), and Shez for You put forth a respectable effort against this group of runners.
After race, Jockey Lindy Wade said: “I had her in a good spot down the back and around the turn. She was relaxed and moving well. When I asked her to go forward in the stretch, she quickened her step. She’s more of a grind it out kind of runner, and once you get her in a longer race, I think she’ll be alright.”
aren’t many options during the next two months insofar as the ideal conditions for our Mojo Runners,” Fred
Shez for You’s immediate bloodline is by Macho Uno, who was an Eclipse Champion in route races on the dirt; and her dam, Shebelongstoyou, was a stakes winner and three times stakes placed in races 7 to 8.5 furlongs on the dirt.
“All of our 2YOs are bred to run in route races, and the tracks are only offering sprints. So, we just have to be patient and wait for longer races to come along in the fall.”
