Finish for Jackrabbit
In the fifth race under the Mojo colors, Jackrabbit Fast delivered another exciting runner-up performance at Remington Park on October 17.
The four-year-old gelding by Aldebran (out of My Own Lovely Lee) is trained by JR Caldwell and went postward with Bryan McNeil up as the bettors’ favorite against 11 other runners.
As expected, Jackrabbit jumped out to a quick lead and maintained the opening fractions of the race. Into the far turn, he hooked up with Valley Fog and the two left the others behind to battle for third. Down the stretch, both horses dueled for the lead up to the 16 pole, and Jackrabbit wasn't able to match Valley Fog in the final strides.
“Jackrabbit gives us his best effort every time out, and his races are always exciting,” says Fred Taylor, Mojo’s CEM.
Jackrabbit was claimed by Fred and JR in May, and since then, he’s been a consistently productive runner for the Mojo connections.
“We’re having a bunch of fun with Jack,” Fred exclaims. “I’m thrilled with the way he’s been running for us. JR and his team do an exceptional job keeping Jackrabbit healthy, happy, and in top form so he’s ready to go when the right race conditions come up.”
Jackrabbit’s Mojo record is one win, three seconds, and a fourth (by less than a length in a tight four-horse photo).
“He’s exceeded my expectations in several ways,” Fred explains. “The most satisfying thing, he’s a gutsy horse that’s never thrown in a clunker for Mojo.”
