Courtney's Last Gate/Breeze

May 15, 2007

Our Filly continues to make great strides - she looks fantastic and worked exceptionally well from the gate this morning. Courtney loaded easily; settled quietly; and was away cleanly on the lead.  She worked 3/8ths (that’s three furlongs) in :36.3 with a colt, and held her position out front by a half of a length throughout the breeze.

Video links of our gal's work today are on Courtney's Profile Page, and I also took a few pics (posted below).  She's coming out of gate two, and her rider is wearing the black jacket with teal stripe.

Next week, Courtney will wrap up her training by breezing a half mile.  After that, she'll ship to Lone Star Park at the end of next week or the one thereafter to get familiar with to the track surroundings.  If all goes well, and there's a good maiden race for 2YO Fillies, Courtney should get her first test of the track at the beginning of June.

Woody’s Return

May 15, 2007

After a nice hiatus in his personal paddock (see pics below), Woody will resume training June 1.  His routine will last 90 days, and during the last week of August, he'll begin gate schooling.

From there, we'll see if he's got what it takes to make a homecoming visit to Keeneland for their Fall Meet (which starts the first week in October).

Note:  I only plan to run Woody once or twice as a Two-Year-Old.  Most likely, nothing longer than six furlongs (just to see what he's like as a Runner).  Then we'll turn him back out to get him rested for his  3YO campaign.

Also Note:  I would like Woody's his first test to be on the Polytrack surface at Keeneland.  Arlington Park also has Polytrack, and that would a good alternative.
