Mojo Update
July 30, 2010 Annie's Fourth Breeze! WAA worked 5/16ths in 31.2 this morning at Diamond D Ranch. Annie was asked to quicken her pace, and she responded by shaving off a couple of tenths from her time last week! The Filly's breeze caps a successful month of preparation for the next stage of her training. ![]() Several WAA Partners were onhand to watch the Mojo Filly's breeze and reward her with carrots!
Next week, Annie will breeze an easy 3/8ths of a mile. The following week, she'll begin schooling from the starting gate. Follow all of the Mojo

The goal today was to increase her distance without pressing the pace, and the Mojo Filly glided around the track just like she was taking a stroll in the park. After the breeze, she galloped out nicely, hit the showers, and went to work on the feed bucket. In addition to watching Annie's workout, we also recorded the third Wild About Annie Mojo Video--which includes an interview with Diamond D Manager, Scooter Dodwell. Scooter was kind enough to sit down with Managing Partner, Fred Taylor, to share his thoughts about Annie's progress. breeze since the layoff (no works last week due to the sloppy Diamond D
track). WAA worked ¼ of a mile in 24.4—so, she shaved a few tenths off of her previous work on July 2.
Annie started off in a nice
pace/rhythm;
she kicked in and took off at the ¼ pole; she was digging in
down the stretch;
and she galloped out nicely after she crossed the finish. The Filly has an even
temperment;
demonstrates a propensity to rate; and runs with tactical speed. Annie is relaxed when she’s on the race
track
and around other horses, and gets to work when called upon. WAA is doing all of the
things we could
ask from her at this stage of her training schedule. Note: WAA’s
breeze times for the same distance and
same stage of training are equal to, and a few tenths faster than, our
first
Mojo Runner, stakes nominated, Hollywood Pegasus.

Partners spent the morning at Diamond D to
watch Annie’s first work since her R&R this Spring.
Annie had
been galloping for fitness during
June. This month, she gets back to
business with timed breezes. As you can
see, the Filly looks great. Her steel
gray coat is gorgeous—almost a purple sheen.
Prior to her workout, the Partners visited with Annie in
the stall; gave
her some carrots; and lots of well-deserved attention.
Then Annie was saddled up; warmed up; and
sent out to the track for her first breeze since February.
Annie
galloped ¾ around the six-furlong track at
an easy pace; and, as the rider approached the ¼ pole, he called
on the Filly
to sprint home. Responding to the
rider’s
command, Annie’s tail came up; she gathered speed into the turn;
and, as if she
understood what was coming, she took off at the top of the stretch! Her breeze time was 25.1—not too shabby
coming off of a break.
Annie will
continue her works throughout July
(increasing the distance every two weeks); and then gate schooling in
August.
