Mojo Retires Jackrabbit
"After Jackrabbit's last race, he developed heat in his right knee and the vet let us know that there was a big chip inside his right front knee," reports Fred Taylor, Mojo's CEM. "Because of the size and location of the chip, the only option is give Jack time off so the knee can heal. After that, his tolerance will be limited to low-impact exercise only."
Jackrabbit Fast is a 4YO Gelding by Aldebaran out of My Own Lovely Lee. He raced five times for Mojo Racing Partners with 1 win, 3 seconds, and a four-horse photo for fourth. Jackrabbit earned over $11,000 for the Mojo connections. Overall, he had raced 21 times: 3 wins, 6 seconds, and 3 thirds producing over $43,000 in total earnings.
"Jackrabbit was a fantastic runner for us and a wonderful part of the Mojo Mission," Fred says. "He provided many people, who previously had never been owners, with an affordable opportunity to participate in and learn about the sport of Thoroughbred racing. Additionally, in every race for Mojo, Jackrabbit had a chance to win coming down the stretch. We had a lot of fun with him this summer. Jack truly exceeded all of our expectations, and we're going to miss having him in the barn."
Utilizing our connections, Jackrabbit has been sent to a private family farm for the care and time off needed. Once his knee heals, Jack will be transitioned to a new career as a lead pony.
