Mojo Race Recap: Remington Park!
“Coming down the stretch, Jackrabbit was rolling," says Fred Taylor, Mojo's CEM. "He caught the leader and I thought it was going to be a duel with the #3 horse to the wire."
With a half furlong to go, two other horses closed in and joined the fight. The winner ended up being a horse that’s been dropping down from stakes races. “The way it turned out happens at all levels of racing, and that's just something you have to be able to take in stride,” Fred explains.
Regarding Jackrabbit’s effort: “I’m really proud of the way Jackrabbit ran the race—there aren’t any excuses,” Fred says. “We took on tougher competition; Jackrabbit didn’t back down; and he was right there at the wire.”
Being in this situation as an owner: “When your horse makes 'the move' around the turn and then digs in at the top of the stretch, your heart rate goes up and you instantly start shouting out encouragement for your runner as he (or she) drives toward the finish,” Fred explains. “It’s a thrilling sport and an exhilarating experience. There’s nothing that compares--it's awesome!”
What’s next? “With all of the time off between races (7.5 weeks), Jackrabbit’s fresh, and if there aren't any issues, he should be ready to go again soon,” Fred reports. “We’ll be looking to enter a race in the near future - so, stay tuned for more info on this.”
Mojo's Off to the Races at Remington Park!
Mojo Racing Partners is pleased to announce that Jackrabbit Fast has been entered to race at Remington Park (RP) on Wednesday, August 29!
“We’ve been patiently waiting (and waiting) for the right conditions since the beginning of the meet,” said Fred Taylor, Mojo’s CEM. “It finally came around for us when the racing office brought back an extra that we had our eyes on in the book.” (The race was initially listed in the condition book; it wasn’t used when the original entries closed; but the race was placed as an extra and utilized for the following race day.)
Jackrabbit Fast is a four-year-old gelding by Aldebaran out of My Own Lovely Lee; he is entered in Race 1; going out of Post Position #6.
“Between races, JR (Caldwell) and his Team have been doing a great job getting Jackrabbit ready,“ Fred reports. “In the last race, we bumped Jackrabbit up in company, and he did just fine. So, we’re moving up the food chain again a little bit more this time to see how he does.”
There are six other horses entered, several are class droppers, and a couple that have competed in stakes races. “This won’t be a cake walk for us by any stretch of the mean,” Fred admits. “Nevertheless, we’re bringing our ‘A game’ on Wednesday.”
